Deceptive Practices and Voter Intimidation Act of 2007

Sign the National Campaign for Fair Elections Petition supporting swift passage of this act!

H.R. 1281 - Introduced by U.S. Representatives Emanuel, John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI), Xavier Becerra (D-CA), Rush Holt (D-NJ), Mike Honda (D-CA), and Keith Ellison (D-MN). Passed by the House in June 2007

S. 453 - Sponsored by Barack Obama, (D-IL). Co-sponsored by Sen. Barbara Boxer, (D-CA), Sen.Diane Feinstein, (D-CA), Sen. John Kerry, (D-MA) and 15 others.

This reform will put an end to campaign practices that disenfranchise thousands of American voters and will give citizens the right to cast a ballot free from intimidation and misinformation.

"For too long, tricks and intimidation have kept thousands of Americans from voting and skewed the results of elections." said Senator Obama. "Voting is one of our most solemn obligations and we must ensure that all Americans have equal, unfettered access to the polls. The Senate must now act quickly to pass this bill to make voter intimidation and deceptive election practices illegal.”

We Demand an Investigation of Voting Systems Companies

VoterAction is asking that you sign a petition to Congress
http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/2671/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=12354

New evidence revealed in Dan Rather Reports' "The Trouble with Touch Screens" raises serious questions as to whether US voting systems companies have committed commercial fraud in jurisdictions across the country.

Our friends at VoterAction announced an action alert to ask the United State's Congress to take action to investigate "the increasing influence and control that private companies wage in the way we conduct our elections and to determine whether certain US voting systems companies have committed crimes under federal and state anti-fraud statutes which should be referred to the appropriate authorities for prosecution".

Sign the petition to call on selected Congresspersons (see below) to conduct a full investigation into the dangers associated with the privatization of our public elections and to determine whether certain US voting systems companies have committed crimes under federal and state anti-fraud laws which should be referred to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.
